Anderson Cooper and Stephen Colbert discuss suit-jacket techniques [x]
Yes good.
It’s long been suspected, and now the truth is out.
Noted journalist and talk show host Anderson Cooper has come out of the closet as gay in an email exchange with Daily Beast writer Andrew Sullivan. Read the full thing here. Cooper said it was time to come out because he felt his silence may have been portrayed as shame.
I’ve also been reminded recently that while as a society we are moving toward greater inclusion and equality for all people, the tide of history only advances when people make themselves fully visible. There continue to be far too many incidences of bullying of young people, as well as discrimination and violence against people of all ages, based on their sexual orientation, and I believe there is value in making clear where I stand.
The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud.
I have always been very open and honest about this part of my life with my friends, my family, and my colleagues. In a perfect world, I don’t think it’s anyone else’s business, but I do think there is value in standing up and being counted. I’m not an activist, but I am a human being and I don’t give that up by being a journalist.
Welcome, Anderson. It’s good to have you.
Yay! Good for him :)
Anderson meets Meow, the 37-lb cat (the equivalent of a 600-lb person), today on “Anderson.”
OH MY GOD
Anderson Cooper saving a boy in Haiti during a shooting.
I fucking hate the shit where journalists/photographers goes to these places and capture this horror and carnage AND DO NOTHING. That is why this is being reblogged. This is the way you act when it’s in your power to literally ACT because you are there.
my journalism ethics teacher would’ve given him a C. I really don’t like journalism ethics.

Fuck yeah, Anderson Cooper. That’s why he’s the best goddamn journalist in America. He actually acts instead of just standing there trying to capture carnage and footage.

I remember my World Issues teacher discussing AC in class, and how during Hurricane Katrina when he was reporting on the damage he started crying on-air. However the people running the show took him off the air briefly and told him to stop showing emotion on-air. When he came back on he told everyone that he was told not to cry or show emotion on-air. I really wish I remembered more about the situation.
(Not as amazing as what he is doing above, of course, but he fucking gives a shit about what he does.)

My hero.
I think Anderson Cooper is truly one of the best examples of not only what it is to be a good American, but also just being a compassionate good human being. I always wished he’d run for President.

I just gained a lot of respect for Anderson Cooper.

I’ve always loved this man, now I just love him more.
——————
This is what a goddamn hero looks like

He is the perfect man. His career took off during Hurricane Katrina. He paid into the Governor of Louisiana for congratulating a long list of politicians…he said, “People are dying here because the government is failing…and there you are congratulating politicians!” He got his own show right after that.
So much respect
mad love for this man.

He’s pretty freakin’ badass.
WHY IS ANDERSON THE BEST??!! Also: I read the first one as: “I started going gay in college”
